I just wanted to share something remarkable that happened to me last night with everyone. I went to a friends house for New Years Just the two of us. She's one of the few people that know about my GD (though that will change drastically in the next month or so) and she has been totally supportive and accepting from the first day. We spent a quiet night at her house watching movies and chatting. Toasted the new year and then she brought out a box and said that she had something for me.

It turns out that she had had two small blankets when she was young and she had covered one in new fabric and was giving it to me. She told me that since I was starting a new life, when things got difficult and life seemed bad I would always have something to hold onto. Something that had brought her comfort in the past when she was just starting life as a girl and she hoped it would do the same for me in the future.

I thanked her after I stopped crying. She's a truly wonderful person.

Here's hoping that 2004 is filled with tears of happiness and joy instead of sadness and grief.
