I got an odd call from my Dad yesterday. Sort of out of the blue. K backlog: he comes up once in a while with my grandmother on his side and we go out to dinner together so it's not all that odd. So we conversed for a bit, just mindless dialogue and then he asked if he could run up and chat with me for an hour. Tonight I asked? No, just in the next few days. K this was pretty strange to begin with. It's about a 3 hour round trip for him to just "run up here" and visit me at school. So I said that I was basically free for the next hour or so if he wanted to talk on the phone. His reply was that he really just wanted to talk to me in person about it. At this point I was starting to get a little paranoid. Millions of things running through my head. Especially considering that I've been working on my disclosure letter to him lately. I have no idea what he would need to come up here to talk to me about. I suppose it could be about my GD and my website. He could have found it. 50,000 other people have, but still it seems unlikely. Other than that, I have no idea. I'll be sure to keep you all posted on whatever it turns out to be. Just weird.

In unrelated news, I went to see my M.D. sponsor about my research today. I was a little worried because it took me a while to catch back up to him with classes and exams etc. He was so swamped today I had to go from his office to the clinic to meet him (by the way, mad props to Nancy his secretary, she's totally cool). So we ran through the revisions on my paper and talked about arranging travel plans (they're going to cover all my expenses, SCORE!) and then he not only told me I was "doing an excellent job" (OMG) but he also asked me if I would write a letter of recommendation for him! Ha, yeah I know that sounds far fetched, but he just became department head and he's up for tenure this year. According to him, a letter from a student doing research (published research esp.) under his guidance would look good. Craziness.
